Training Policies, Terms and Conditions

Code of Conduct

Experienced, qualified trainers will endeavour to ensure you get the most out of your ACTWEll First Aid Training course. We guarantee our trainers will provide materials and give presentations that meet or exceed training standards.

Standardised assessment procedures will ensure student competencies and understanding is determined objectively and fairly.

For their part, students are required to treat trainers and other course participants with respect and courtesy at all times. Students whose behaviour is disruptive or inappropriate may be asked to leave the course without refund or accreditation. All students are expected to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the course.

ACTWell First Aid training prefers payment within 48 hours of making your booking. If you cannot meet the timeframe please notify us, as failure to make a timely payment may result in your place in the course being offered to another participant.

We accept the following methods of payment: Credit card (VISA or Mastercard), PayPal, Electronic Funds Transfer or direct deposit to our bank account. Group Bookings may be paid by cheque.

Cancellations and Re-scheduling

All booking cancellations will incur a $50.00 fee. In cases where less than 48 hours notice of cancellation or re-schedule is provided, the full course fee may be charged.

Late arrivals in excess of 20 minutes may be refused entry and may forfeit payments or be subject to a re-scheduling fee.

Your Rights

You have the right to raise any concerns about your course with your Trainer or any employee of ACTWell First Aid Training. If discussion fails to resolve your concerns, you may seek redress in writing to the Business Manager.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ACTWell First Aid Training limits its liability for services provided, to the re-supply or cost of re-supplying those same services.

ACTWell First Aid Training respects your privacy and will only use information collected about you for training purposes, accreditation or refresher reminders. We will never release your details to other organisations without your consent

Access and Equity

ACTWell First Aid Training actively encourages all members of the community to undertake first aid training.  However, our premises can only be accessed via a steep flight of stairs.  We apologise unreservedly if this prevents you from joining our scheduled sessions, and will happily discuss alternate training options.

Please discuss with our staff prior to booking if you have any language, literacy, special learning needs or disabilities that may affect your ability to undertake the required assessment tasks.

Students are advised that in addition to written components, assessment includes the performance of physical tasks such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in order to be deemed competent.

In line with the current requirements from ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority) and the ARC (Australian Resuscitation Council) all participants must be observed performing floor based Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and first aid scenarios.

Students are responsible for organising and paying for learning support if they require it.

Workplace Health and Safety

ACTWell First Aid Training is responsible for providing its employees and students with a safe and healthy work environment.

Course participants are responsible for compliance with instructions provided for safety so they do not place themselves or others at risk. Students are also required to undertake activities in a safe manner and to immediately report any injury or illness to the trainer.

Children attending courses

ACTWell First Aid training regrets that children cannot be permitted to attend courses unless they are over 14 years of age and enrolled as a participant in the course.

We offer a 15-minute break for morning tea and 30 minutes for lunch. Students attending our premises are welcome to bring lunch from home, which can be refrigerated and/or microwaved.  If preferred, students may visit one of the many cafes in the Kingston precinct, but please be aware that we require timely attendance after lunch.  Please bear in mind the scheduled break is only 30 minutes.

Course materials and Assessment

Completion of the Pre-course Workbook is a requirement of your training.  The Workbook is available via the Allens Training online learning platform or the downloadable e-book.  Alternately, should you require a hard copy, please advise us well in advance to ensure you have sufficient time to complete the Workbook before your course.

In line with the current requirements from ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority) and the ARC (Australian Resuscitation Council) all participants must be observed performing floor based Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and first aid scenarios.

Many of the courses also include a multiple choice assessment to be conducted at the end of the course.

Any participant that does not meet these requirements will be deemed NYC (not yet competent) and rescheduled into another course until such time as assessment can be made. Assessment must be re-conducted with 14 days.

For further information please visit training.gov.au for the unit of competency outlines.
