HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

Course Description 

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, basic life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This course is suitable for those requiring workplace first aid skills.

Students attending our flexible delivery First Aid courses must complete online pre-course work and assessment PRIOR to their practical sessions.

There is a practical assessment (as per the unit of competency guidelines) of two (2) minutes of uninterrupted CPR performed on the floor. If you are physically incapable of performing CPR on the floor, please contact our staff for further information.

The CPR (HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) component of this course is valid for 12 months and the HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support and HLTAID003 Provide First Aid qualification expires after three (3) years

 

DUE TO COVID-19 we are currently delivering training via an 'enhanced online learning' delivery method with a shortened face-to-face assessment. This course runs approximately 1.5 - 2 hours face to face with a pre-course online requirement to be completed prior to the face-to-face component.

COURSE FEES AND PAYMENTS

The fee for this course is $130, or $105 for refresher training

Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and service provider.

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor. 

Performance tasks and Practical scenarios:  

  • Perform CPR on an infant

  • Perform CPR on an adult  (incl. the use of an AED)

  • Breathing difficulties – Asthma

  • Anaphylaxis (allergic reaction) 

  • Choking with airway obstruction 

  • Unconscious casualty 

  • Bleeding and shock 

  • Snake or funnel-web spider bite 

  • Sprains and fractures 

Online / Theory assessment 

Pre-course study:   Students will be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

The student must complete all assessment videos, modules and questions. 

CERTIFICATE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

Certificates will require renewal after 36 months
